Reel
Trout Studio Fish Carving Classes:
Learn to carve a trout,
grayling or miniature of any salmon with Alaskan artist, Eric L Knowlton.
In this class, you will learn how to create a pattern, about the
tools used, selecting wood, sources for materials and how to carve,
detail and scale a fish. Emphasis is on creating an
anatomically correct fish, fin size and placement, and head details.
At the end of the class, you will have a completed 12 - 18" fish
carving. Weekend classes are available throughout the winter
and spring, with private individual classes available anytime other
than fall. Winter workshops are held
on Saturdays at Reel Trout Studio. Take as many or as few
workshops as you like, a great way to take away the cabin fever.
Winter workshops (Saturdays at Reel Trout Studio): $100 per
workshop. Maximum of 3 carvers.
Individual classes (one on one instruction): $1500 for 5 days
instruction. Your choice of fish from 12" - 20"

Reel
Trout Studio Fish Painting Classes:
Learn to paint your choice of all 5 species of Pacific Salmon (chinook,
sockeye, coho, chum and pink), or choose any 4 trout, char, grayling
or salmon from our line of study castings. Painting will be
with airbrush and brushes, or for those that do not want to use an
airbrush, hand brush only techniques will be shown as well.
Course covers information about airbrushes, quality, selection and
compressors, spray booths, primers, acrylic and lacquer based
paints, clear coating, scale tipping and adding the fine details
that will set your painting off from others.
Winter workshops (Saturdays at Reel Trout Studio): $100 per
workshop. Includes cost of 2 study casts.
2 day class: $200 Includes cost of 3 study casts. Minimum
of 2, maximum of 5.
Additional study casts available at the studio.

Reel
Trout Studio Habitat & Base Classes:
Class covers habitat and base design, composition, wood selection &
sources, tools, basic casting and molding techniques, staining and
sealing techniques. Learn to carve rocks that look and feel
real, as well as leaves, grasses, driftwood, sculpin, stonefly
casings and many other items that will add the needed detail to your
fish carvings.
Winter workshops (Saturdays at Reel Trout Studio): $100 per
workshop.

All
classes require pre-registration to avoid over or under filling of
available spaces. Classes requiring a minimum require a 50%
deposit to hold your seat. Deposit is non refundable unless
seat can be filled or minimum is met, should you need to cancel.
Facilities: Meals are not included, however, we are near the heart
of Wasilla, with many restaurants nearby. We are also close to
several hotels, bed and breakfasts and RV facilities. Summer
classes can add a day of fishing if requested. We know many of
the guides in the area, and we can arrange the trip.
